The Carlisle Historical Society
Welcome to The Carlisle Historical Society!
Chartered by New York State in 2008, the historical society's purpose is to nurture the community's interest in the rich history of the Town of Carlisle; educate the community on Carlisle's historic resources; collect and preserve original historical artifacts and documents of Carlisle. These goals will be achieved through programs on diverse historical topics, especially those related to Carlisle and the region and preservation of historical records; field trips that highlight historical sites; discovery, collection and preservation whenever possible of original records, manuscripts, and diaries, letters, and photographs and other material that will help us record and be informed about the historical past; continuing research on the history of Carlisle; promotion of the history of the area for public dissemination and creation of interest in its historical past; securing private and local, state and federal governmental financial assistance whenever possible to further these objectives.
The Carlisle Historical Society has six scheduled meeting a year, in the months of March, April, May, September, October, and November. Typically we meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Community Room at the Carlisle Town Hall, 541 Crommie Road. Additional special meetings may be scheduled during the year, and may take place at a different place and time. Please check the "Schedule" page for information on the upcoming season and for any additional meetings.
